Acknowledgement Camp Leave No Trace Plan
Our Angel of Purity is
ultimately responsible for ensuring that Acknowledgement Camp leaves no trace, and for this year that role will be assigned to a responsible person by 01/July.
To minimize the impact of our stay the Playa, we Angels of
Acknowledgement Camp pledge to abide by these rules:
Leave No Trace
- We will have one person police our camp each day for any
stray MOOP.
- Garbage will be stored beneath the bus, out of the sun and
protected from the wind, until we bring it with us to dump.
- We will separate wet and dry garbage in separate 5 gallon
pails.
Reuse, Recycle
- We will have two plastic containers clearly labeled for
plastic/glass and aluminum recycling. When these fill, we will empty the containers into labeled garbage bags to bring
back to the city for recycling.
- We are bringing biodegradable dish soap and garbage bags
with us.
Burning
- We plan on burning our altar at one of the burn stations. We
will not be doing any burning within our camp.
Digging
- The only holes we will be creating will be for tent and dome
stakes.
Gray Water
- We will store our gray water in the empty 2.5 gallon water
jugs and will bring them back with us for proper disposal.
- Our showers are the communal Lustre Village showers so
the Lustre Village Plan covers those.
- Each dayÕs Angels of Sustenance (our cooks) will change the dish soap and store the gray water in the empty water jugs.
Kitchen Area
- We will have a dry garbage pail and a wet garbage pail by
the kitchen area.
Keep It Clean List:
While asking Angels to bring specific items the camp needs,
we will also ask that Angels not bring:
- Anything glass.
- Nothing in the way of nut shells, unsecured paper,
feathers (e.g. boas), or other items that can easily be dropped, lost,
and/or blown away.
- Any unnecessary packing items like battery plastic, foam
peanut shells, extra paper or cardboard wrapping, etc.
Clean-up Supply List:
The Angel of Purity will make sure that we have the
following items to help with clean up:
- Sturdy work gloves.
- At least one flat-blade shovel.
- Brooms, rakes, and dustpans for collecting small items of
MOOP.
- Rope and string for tying down shade covers, camp
furniture and supplies, and any other loose items.
- Small plastic bags for collecting trash as we wander.
- Directions to and hours of approved landfills along our
route home.
